Hand embroidered gauze.
El tacto es el único sentido sin el cual no podemos vivir.
Touch is the only sense without which we can not survive.
This motto has driven the piece from the first spark to its final form; a simple but powerful hidden truth.
Affection and care in contact are the center of this proposal in which both the manual embroidery technique and the type of textile support the claim. The political vindication is written on cotton gauze, a humble fabric -which origin is now more relevant than ever- leads us directly to hands carefully wrapping wounds of hurting skin, providing protection to heal. As vital as a hug for a soul in pain. To reinforce the central position of the non-visual values, the white on white embroidered phrase, is only half shown. The public is invited to get involved and make the decision to modify the shape to complete it. By sensing the particular qualities of the material in search of the stitches, the memory of the body will connect with a common act of care: folding a fabric, and the personal experience attached to it. Once revealed, the collaborative and cumulative gesture of returning the gauze to its place, re-signifies the action of relating to the material and therefore to each other.
